Counseling Services for Adolescents, Adults, and Groups

Wellness, creativity, and living wholeheartedly are important values in my life and lend texture to my theraputic style.  As a certified yoga instructor and artist, I use a holistic approach to counseling where the mind, body, and spirit are recognized, valued, and integrated in therapy. For the past fifteen years, much of my professional life has been devoted to counseling high achieving adolescents and young adults.

I have Master’s degrees from DePaul University in both Counseling Psychology and Teaching and Learning.  A lifelong learner, I have earned an advanced certificate from the University of Pennsylvania in Positive Psychology and am a Daring Way™ Facilitator.  Daring Way was developed by the researcher and thought leader Brene’ Brown and focuses on courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy.  Daring greatly, living wholeheartedly, telling your story, and embracing your true self are at the root of Dr. Brown’s research on shame resilience.  I have found that these concepts soon become therapeutic goals as my clients work through challenges and ultimately learn to thrive in a world where “never enough” seems to dominate the contemporary culture.

I have recently been awarded the University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award as well as the The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Award for Exemplary Dedication to the Field of Education.

The Daring Way

The Daring Way is a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. The method was developed to help men, women, and adolescents learn how to show up, be seen and live braver lives. The primary focus is on developing shame resilience skills and developing a courage practice that transforms the way we live, love, parent, and lead. It can be facilitated in clinical, educational, and professional settings and is suitable for work with individuals, couples, families, work teams, and organizational leaders.
